Lining mattress, Brocade/Fodera di materasso, Broccato. W 45 D 5 H 55 cm 2007
This is a dress made with fabric mattresses of the early ‘900 and applications in brocade were used for the upholstery. The fabric of a mattress is old material so poor for its origin, as a valuable and rich as now present in limited quantities. I like to bring out the charm of small patches and a few holes that seem to me to converse with some paintings of “arte povera”. Game with the word “fashion” and meaning “poor.”
